IT’S STRIKING. An idea that was ignited whilst completing my biology degree. I’ve always had a knack for fashion. But I never thought that I could pursue a career in the fashion industry. I was raised with the mentality that only common jobs like becoming a lawyer or doctor can make you successful. So, I went into university thinking that I’d become a biologist. I was following my parents’ dreams and not my own. Very quickly I realized that I needed an escape because science just wasn’t doing it for me. So, first I created a fashion blog, then I founded a creative collective and my finally created my own clothing brand. Studying biology and anthropology taught me to value of our planet’s resources and the importance of ethical labour. So when creating my own brand I wanted to use second-hand materials, and rework already existing pieces. This was my way of creating something brand new while still being morally conscious. I work on both the brand design and management for It’s Striking and it’s the most rewarding hobby!

It’s Striking X Stain
My first ever collection that I created thanks to many Youtube tutorials. I’d like to thank Youtube for making it possible for me to sew my first collaborative collection. One of my favourite brands, Stain let me rework her original t-shirts. It was such an honour!

This collection was extremely symbolic for me because it was the first time I ever felt as though I succeeded. I spent months planning, sewing and creating the concept for the collection. And once the collection came to life it was a real dream come true and I am so proud of my work!
